◆内容简介：
　 根据爱伦坡恐怖小说改编，讲述十二世纪帕斯伯亲王（尼格古林饰）笃信邪魔撒旦，为了满足其欲望，以严苛的租税驾驭农夫，逮捕了二个农民领袖吉诺（文森特．普赖斯饰）和范却丝考（哈索．库尔特饰）的父亲以逼迫范自毁良知崇尚邪恶。亲王对范的喜爱，引起茱莉安娜（珍妮．亚丝饰）的忌妒，也投向邪恶，但却无法得到帕亲王的欢心，遂帮助范救二位领袖逃走，但仍被捕回。亲王给了他们五把小刀，其中一只有毒，令二人割腕，范父欲刺杀亲王不遂被杀死。吉诺被流放到红死病蔓延的乡间，得到一红衣人相助，返回城堡。而亲王及其它贵族亦传染了红死病身亡，只有范及吉诺幸免遇难。后来才得知，原来红衣人即是死神的使者。一部令人惊颤不已的恐怖片由此生成，演员将角色的心理活动诠释得丝丝入扣，色调鲜明，搭配上完美的音乐，使影片摄制得更加完美。

Satanist Prince Prospero invites several dozen of the local nobility to his castle for protection against an oncoming plague, the Red Death. Prospero orders his guests to attend a masked ball and, amidst a general atmosphere of debauchery and depravity, notices the entry of a mysterious hooded stranger dressed all in red. Believing the figure to be his master, Satan, Prospero is horrified at the revelation of his true identity.
