The lives of a group of female Tokyo teens are fully explored in this emotional feature from director Hideaki Anno. Outwardly the girls appear be normal teenagers, obsessing over clothes and boys. However, when night falls the girls lives transform completely as they offer them-selves to older men via phone booths and street corners. With no family life to speak of, and a school system that doesn't interest them, the girls feed their daytime passions with the money they make on the streets at nighttime. It all adds up to a startling expose of contempor-ary life in Tokyo, with exemplary performances from the young cast, and some stunning scenes shot on an ultra-low budget by the crew.
