This is the story of Gunnhild, queen of England and Norway during the turbulent tenth century, as the Viking Era was drawing to a close, and a new era was just beginning.

When Eirik's rivals lure him to his death, Gunnhild carries on the struggle. Never yielding, always fighting on, she spent her life searching for meaning in a ruthless and bewildering world.
