卡尔．霍曼根据珍迪．哈托的原著小说改编，描述二次世界大战期间，一名拖船船主在从事危险任务之前，把住处钥匙交给一名好友，并托付好友，假如自已遇害，就让好友代替自已照顾妻子儿女。本片情节非常有戏剧性，但处理的有点不可思议，教人难以置信，而且缺乏真实的情感。不过本片仍有很多片断具有趣味性，特雷弗．霍华德的演出亦令本片增色不少。另外，威廉．霍尔登和苏菲．亚罗兰的表演也不俗。

?Plot   : In wartime England, circa 1941, poorly-armed tugs are   
        sent into "U-Boat Alley" to rescue damaged Allied     
        ships. An American named David Ross arrives to captain
