1965年出版的《阿莱特克斯和诺曼底人》改编,用了4年时间准备，投资2200万欧元，相当于一般欧洲卡通片投资的3倍。这部电影由丹麦人斯特芬·菲尔德马克(StefanFjeldmark)执导，除了漫画中原有的人物，他还加入了名叫“手机短信”的信鸽和一个名叫“维家”(Vikea)的女人，她的名字来自著名的“宜家家居”，他说：“虽然亚斯特克斯是个法国人，但他不一定要受自己家乡的限制。”《高卢英雄大战维京海盗》赶上了法国卡通工业复兴的东风，近年来法国每年平均有15部动画片上映，比10年前多了一倍。然而对于仍在衰落中的法国电影工业来说，这部电影的赌注不可谓不大。
