EPISODE 1:The length of Queen Elizabeth II's reign means that, for most of the world, she is the only Queen they have known. In the first of this two part series about the Queen we aim to re-examine those early days and look at how duty and sacrifice have shaped the Queen we see today. The beginning of Elizabeth's reign would see her facing scandals that ranged from her sister wanting to marry a divorced and much older man to the disaster of Suez Crisis. The winds of change were blowing and as the world picked up speed and entered the 1960s many observers were left wondering if this old-fashioned Queen would be able to keep up.EPISODE 2:In the second part of this series we examine how increased press intrusion has figured heavily in this era of Elizabeth's reign and how the Royal Family were forced to adapt to this celebrity driven age. It began with those early-televised broadcasts and it continues to this day. The old order was challenged in all parts of what had once been the Queen's great Empire. The Queen developed a new role for herself and her family. It began with the Silver Jubilee in 1977 and carried on through countless events and crises. They became a more approachable Royal Family, doing walkabouts and TV interviews. For her, duty is everything, her loyalty to her country and its people remains steadfast.
