在一个遥远偏僻的高山部落，年轻的猎人达雷（史蒂文?史崔特饰演）找到了心上人 – 美丽的伊芙乐(卡米拉?贝尔饰演)。但神秘外族入侵，村庄突遭洗劫，心爱的恋人被抢走，于是达雷毅然决定率领小簇族人踏上漫漫追踪之路。当他们第一次来到未知的大地，发现了文明的存在，人类的生存方式远远超出了他们的想象。一路颠簸中，不断有其他部落同样遭受灭顶之灾的人群加入，不知不觉中达雷的追踪小队壮大成了一支军队。命运的驱使，让毫无作战经验的勇士们必须面对史前猛兽的袭击并不断与恶劣的大自然作殊死搏斗。在即将结束他们英勇顽强地长途跋涉的时候，他们偶然发现了失落的文明，大金字塔飞奔入云的壮观景象让他们最终领悟到他们的终极命运被一个无法想象的帝国掌握。他们必须抵抗帝国的统治者,一个自称神灵的暴君。达雷在这场腥风血雨的洗礼中终于明白：他的使命不仅仅在于营救伊芙乐，而是拯救整个人类的文明。
