　　摇滚巨星Billy Joel(比利·乔)在美国纽约大都会(Mets)棒球队主场Shea Stadium球场举行了一场告别演唱会，40多年前的1965年8月15日，"The Beatles"(披头四)在这里征服了台下55600名观众，也征服了美国。


　　当天为他站台的全是超级明星歌手，"The Beatles"的Paul McCartney（保罗麦卡特尼）、Aerosmith（史密斯飞船乐队)的主唱Steven Tyler（史蒂文泰勒), 乡村歌手Garth Brooks 及美国乐坛传奇Tony Bennett（托尼班奈特)等均是座上嘉宾及上台演唱的巨星，演出之前，门票早已销售一空。

　　Paul McCartney对他说：“很久很久之前，我们曾在这里点燃了那个夜晚，今晚也会如此。”[1965年8月，"The Beatles"起程二度赴美，他们在纽约Shea Stadium进行了演出，观众超过5万5千人，演出收益达30万4千美元，这场演唱会创造了观众人数和门票收入的世界记录，从此改变了乐团只在俱乐部和剧场演唱的歷史。]

　　Garth Brooks 身著棒球队球衣出现在舞台上，跟著人群一起唱《She's Always a Woman》，台下观众里坐著Joel最著名的歌迷－－他的前妻Christie Brinkley。

　　Tony Bennett与 Joel合唱了“New York State of Mind”，Steven Tyler 表演了《Walk This Way》，The Who乐团的Roger Daltrey 演唱了经典的《My Generation》，一曲终了，Billy Joel将吉他砸向舞台，将其摔成了两半。

　　Paul McCartney最后出场，他边弹吉他边唱《I Saw Her Standing There》，最后Billy Joel感性的坐在钢琴上Paul McCartney弹奏钢琴两人合唱了当晚最后一首歌"Let It Be"。

　　以Piano Man一曲成名的比利乔是流行音乐黄金时期的巨星之一， 1970年代中期出道至今，比利乔的专辑光是在美国一地就卖超过6千万张，是流行音乐史上最畅销的艺人之一。以隽永的旋律与深刻的歌词创作出无数流行金曲，无论是深情款款的情歌，还是反映社会现状的歌曲，比利乔让人折服之处，在于他巧妙地融合The Beatles流畅的旋律，百老汇歌曲的戏剧性，以及爵士乐华丽细腻的 编曲风格，精巧地谱出属于普罗口味的流行歌曲，像是他早年的成名曲 “Piano Man”、“Just The Way You Are”、“Uptown Girl”、 “New York State Of Mind”，都是流行音乐史上的典范之作。

比利·乔1949年5月9日出生于纽约的希克斯维尔。4岁就开始接受钢琴训练，虽然7 岁时父亲的弃家，使他和母亲二人陷入困境，但比利·乔从未放弃对音乐的浓厚兴趣。

1968 年比利·乔就以一名自弹自唱的民谣歌手形象出现在歌坛上，多年不得志的日子并没有使比利·乔失掉音乐创作的信心，反而使他愈挫愈勇，坚守自己独树一帜的创作风格，终于在Bee Gees把迪斯可带向疯狂的时期，比利·乔竟以一张名为《The Stranger》的专辑异军突起，并不受当时潮流的影响而获得了空前的成功，在当年Grammy大奖中比利·乔以一首《Just The Way You Are》连获“最佳唱片”与“最佳歌曲”两项最高荣誉。

紧接著Grammy奖中比利·乔又以一张《52nd Streed》的优异表现获得了两个大奖，专辑打头阵推出的一首单曲《My Life》，告诉人们，不要怕别人对你的看法，应履行你自己的人生。

80 年代初， 比利·乔推出摇滚专辑《Glass Honses》受到音乐学术界的好评，并使得他夺得了23届Grammy“最佳摇滚男歌手”奖。随后他再接再厉推出了一张復古式的摇滚大作《An Lunoceent Man》，其中《Uptown Girl》、《The Longest Time》等5首单曲进入了单曲排行榜，歌迷为之疯狂。比利·乔可以说是五、六十年代摇滚乐所繁衍的后代，加之他坚持自己的风格而不随波逐流，并保持虚心的态度，所以在流行歌坛自然成为巨星。
