Today in the U.S., the second a child is reported abducted, an alert is sent. But that wasn't always the case. The kidnapping of Amber Hagerman established a new system to help find missing children: The Amber Alert.
On January 13, 1996, Amber Hagerman was riding her bicycle in Arlington,Texas, when she was abducted. A search began that involved Arlington Police, the FBI and local radio and television stations.Four days later, Amber's body was found about four miles away. Her kidnapping and murder still remain unsolved.
This is the true story of what happened to this innocent nine-year-old girl and how her family came together to help others as a result of this tragedy.
