　　德里克-祖兰德几乎没有费什么劲就连续三年战胜了数以千计的竞争者，保持了年度最佳男模特的头衔。但是，现在这位世界上最著名的超级模特将要向人们证明他不仅仅是一个普通的长得俊美的绣花枕头。无意之间的冲动，使祖兰德卷入了一个险恶的阴谋中，他将向人们证明当他面对地下恶势力时也不是孬种，他要给他成千上万的崇拜者们一个为他欢呼的理由。


　　超级男模德里克·祖兰德（本·斯蒂勒饰）是个魅力十足而庸俗肤浅的家伙，靠着自己漂亮的脸蛋儿，日子过得一直很舒服。但好运终有到头的时候，连续3年雄居世界头号男模宝座之后，祖兰德在第4年的评选中竟然败给了名不见经传的新人汉瑟尔（欧文·威尔逊饰），令他颜面大失。

　　心灰意懒的祖兰德回到家乡新泽西，打算改行从此退出时装界。他的爸爸（强·沃伊特饰）是当地的一名煤矿工人，一向对祖兰德从事的“绣花枕头"行业极为蔑视，他对儿子的这次归来表现得极为冷淡。祖兰德在家人那里得不到支持，只好回到纽约重操旧业。

　　第一个向祖兰德发出工作邀请的是神秘古怪的设计师Mugatu，名义上他是请祖兰德为自己拍摄新一季的时装硬照，其实是想利用祖兰德实现自己的疯狂计划——暗杀马来西亚总统。被洗了脑的祖兰德在执行任务的过程中遇到了古怪的美女、时代杂志的女记者等形形色色的人，一场混战之后，祖兰德终于明白了一件事——为什么没有男模可以活过30岁。
