◎简　　介　

　对年轻的吉伯特(强尼戴普饰)而言，住在爱德华州只有1013人口的恩多拉镇，像出“没有音乐的舞蹈”般乏味而无趣，他的成长过程历经艰辛，母亲因不能面对父亲自杀的事实，不停进食的结果使她的体重剧增至六百磅，整栋房子快因母亲的体重而倾毁。此外，吉伯特还有一位一出生就被医生诊断活不过十岁却过十八岁生日的智障弟弟阿尼(李奥纳多狄卡皮欧饰)，谁也不敢预料阿尼还能过几次生日。吉伯特的姐姐为了照顾行动不便的母亲及家庭，辞职在家身兼母职，最小的妹妹爱伦只知爱漂亮，至于大弟更因受不了家庭压力而离家，于是整个家庭的生计及照顾阿尼起居的重担都落在吉伯特身上，吉伯特默默承受一切，让这个包袱蚕食他的生命……直到他遇见四处旅游、活泼开朗的贝琪(茱莉叶露易丝饰)，他的爱情在这贫瘠的小镇滋长，吉伯特才明白生命仍然值得追寻…
