tunnels. 100 feet below the city of Paris
The film is a portrait of "PSYCKOZE"   
through this abandoned urban landscape   
and a portrait of the space through the   
artist.

and a nice slideshow with Psyckoze's art
Dead Space' is the long awaited special
release on the wonderful Bully imprint   
an hour long documentary set in the     
depths of Paris' catacomb maze with your
host, graffiti artist Psyckoze.      
Telling the story of this man made centre
of extreme clastrophobia over the course
of the last 25 years where this artist has
hosen to show his works to only a very   
select clientele not including rats,     
spiders and all sorts of creepy crawlies.
Shot over a two year period, the director
of this documentary had the mammoth     
exercise of editing down 60 hours into   
60 minutes, a task he bluntly describes   
as "an almighty 'headfuck".           
The artist is interviewed in his      
apartment and on location breaking down   
the history of parisian youth finding   
their own personal ungoverned space 25   
metres below the streets of Paris.     
There's also conflict, rival opinions   
from opposing dwellers most of whom     
choose simply to get wasted out of site   
of the police. You can't help but feel   
that what was originally intended as a   
graffiti film ended up as something much
more substantial - but that's how a lot   
of great documentaries are made, if     
'Dead Space' had a twin then it would be
the wonderful 'Dark Days'.           
Soundtracked by Bully artists Sixtoo,   
Moodswing 9 and Similak - this is a weird
mind altering film filled with sadness,   
danger and obsessive compulsion, the kind
of absorbing documentary that usually   
shows in the 'Storyville' strand on BBC4.
Bonus features are a slideshow of      
Psyckoze's artwork, an interview with   
Style Wars' legend Henry Chalfont plus   
the short but spooked trailer.

  |#| meaning to the word headfuck!               |#|

  |#| - Psy's longest stay in the Catacombs was 72 hours |#|

  |#| - Interceiving's soundscapes were so perfectly     |#|
  |#| appropriate for the Catacombs, it's hard to believe |#|
  |#| they were not composed specifically for the film.   |#|
  |#| - We only got lost once, for a couple of hours, but |#|
  |#| we did lose quite a few people down there...     |#|
  |#| - Psy's patience was great. He took us down at     |#|
  |#| least 15 times for about 10-12 hours at a time and |#|
  |#| answered shit-loads of questions for weeks without |#|
  |#| ever getting annoyed.                     |#|
  |#| - Psy made only one requirement: that the movie   |#|
  |#| respect a geographical cohesion when showing his   |#|
  |#| journey through the Catacombs. Being in the editing |#|
  |#| room was like being back in the labyrinth trying to |#|
  |#| figure out were the fuck the exit was...         |#|
  |#| - To this day, Psy is still working on his castle. |#|
  |#| - Psy publicly showed his paintings about the     |#|
  |#| catacombs and shared his part of his life in an   |#|
  |#| exhibit entitled "AUTOPSY" in fall 2004.         |#|
  |#| - We had one camera for the whole shoot and by the |#|
  |#| end, it was held together with duct tape.       |#|
