【内容简介】
The story takes place between years 1940 and 1952.

The main character of the story is a student named Iva that returns to his villige of origin in Slavonija after he helped a Jewish friend and risks to be imprisoned.

In the village there is a disruption between those who embrace Nazi regime and those against it.

In that chaos are Iva and his best friend Mata on the opposite sides. Iva joins "partizans" while Mata joins "Ustasas" Both of them experience major difficulties connected to the war while the end of the war won't bring any solutions to the peoples' problems, to their own problems nor their country problems.
