　　三只超有天份的花栗鼠艾尔文、西蒙和西奥多，偶然巧遇潦倒的作曲家戴维·塞维尔，他们二话不说就霸占戴维的房子，为了说服戴维让它们住下，三只花栗鼠也展露天份，原来它们不仅会说话，还很会唱歌。　

　　很快地，三只花栗鼠就唱出名号，戴维不仅为它们创作词曲，还身兼父职照顾它们。只是花栗鼠走红后也开始拿跷，甚至挑衅戴维，处处向他找碴。不过，三只花栗鼠终究体认到，那段和戴维同住一个屋檐下，像一家人的生活，远比一切功名都更加甜蜜幸福。
