Frederick A. 'Fritz' Henderson
Age: 50. Born Nov. 29, 1958, in Detroit.
Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, the University of Michigan, 1980; master's degree in business administration, Harvard Business School, 1984.
Auto career: Started at GM in 1984 as senior analyst in the Treasurer's office in New York before transferring to GMAC in 1989 as director of mortgage banking. Named GMAC group vice president of finance in Detroit in 1992 and two years later headed parts-making division Automotive Components Group in Pontiac. Served as GM vice president and general manager of Delphi Saginaw in 1996 before leaving the following year for a three-year stint as VP and managing director of the automaker's regional operations out of Brazil. In June 2000, Henderson was named group VP and president of GM's Latin America, Africa and Middle East operations before leaving two years later to oversee GM Asia Pacific. He took over GM's European operations in 2004. In January 2006, he was named vice chairman and chief financial officer before being promoted to GM president and chief operating officer in March 2008 |
