　　15岁的赛贝和母亲住在郊区一栋拥挤的公寓里。习惯于沉默的赛贝，对学校里欺负自己的人从来不反抗。他爱自己的妈妈，因为他不知道可以不爱。赛贝逃到了垃圾场，发现自己有一双神奇的手，能创造出意想不到的东西。在这儿他是自由的，但也是孤独的。直到有一天，他被完全孤立起来，只剩下自己的母亲。而当母亲离他而去时，一切都开始崩溃。

幕后制作

　　影片是出身在伊朗的导演巴巴克·纳加非的处女作，在2010年柏林电影节上摘得了最佳处女作。巴巴克·纳加非12岁来到瑞典之前生活在伊朗，在那里经历了两伊战争，为了忘记外面的炮声，他和邻居们聚到一台卡带机前面观看外国电影，而这是纳加非对于电影的最初记忆。《赛贝的童年》讲述了社会最底层的穷人的故事，男主角塞巴斯蒂安·霍特此前毫无表演经历，因而影片很容易被拿来同英国的肯·洛奇、阿德里亚·阿诺德等人的作品相比。纳加非介绍说，“《赛贝》是一部关于与世隔绝（separation）的电影，对其我有着深刻而负责的感情。这是故事的很好的切入点，因为它可能发生在任何人身上”。而关于“穷困”，“大部分电影都在回避它。西欧国家的人们生活如此安逸以至于忘记了——或者根本不愿意被提醒——还想很多人生活在社会的另一边，承受着不公。不去想他们或许会更容易一点，但是我选择来谈论这个话题。”
