This beautifully produced original movie, based on the "Felicity" stories from the "American Girl" book series, is high adventure for its young target audience. All the "American Girl" stories tell personal tales that are rooted in significant periods from American history, and this one is no different. "Felicity" follows the story of a young girl who lives just at the beginning of the American Revolution; her family, and her own life, hang in the balance of the turmoil to come.

Felicity (Shailene Woodley) and her family live in Williamsburg, Va., just before the war. When Felicity spots a beautiful wild horse owned by a cruel tanner, she wants to free the horse, sending the plot off on an high adventure that echoes the political times in which Felicity lives.

Director Nadia Tass gives the story beautiful detail, aided in no small part by Anna Sandor's intelligent script, David Parker's lush photography and Lindsey Herner-Bell's rich production design. As with all the "American Girl" stories and telefilms, "Felicity" makes history come alive in a compelling way for young viewers.
