Polish sound artist Tomasz Bednarczyk returns to Room40 following up his Summer Feelings album with another volume of achingly lovely microsound experiments, combining a bitstream of subtle, high frequency glitches with Harold Budd-like phrasing and a prodigious knack for electroacoustic ambience. 'Freckled Cheeks' is full of implied minor chords and pinprick rhythms - yet just when you think you've got Bednarczyk pegged, along comes 'Tokyo' with its collage-based approach to composition, layering field recordings in tandem with backwards looping piano phrases. The rainy crackle of 'A Bus Ride With A Red Haired Girl' is another great example of how Bednarczyk fuses environmental sounds with instrumental narratives, establishing an almost tangible sense of atmosphere and location. Elsewhere 'MI.TI' brings to mind the glassy tones of Steinbruchel while 'Movie' is like Biosphere's Geir Janssen at his most cinematic. Mightily impressive stuff, sure to please anyone with a penchant for the discerning digital sounds of Room40, 12k or Touch.


omasz Bednarczyk was born in 1986. He is a young musician and sound artist living in Wroclaw, Poland. He presently studies pedagogy. Since 2004 he has been writing compositions presenting new, pop qualities through his fragile sounds. He makes melancholy impressions on the basis of acoustic loops and surrounding, outward sounds.
His debute mini album “So nice” is released in 2006 by experimental and avantagrde Audio Tong Records. In 2007 Bednarczyk takes other artists’s (Flunk, Husky, Mr.S, Novika, Old Time Radio, 3Moonboys) compositions and modificates them into his own verions adding his unique stylistics. These new arrangements allow him to be noticed on remixes compilations and singles. The first full lenght album “Summer Feelings” is released by worldwide known and unquestionably recognized australian label Room40 (March 2008). Calm, subtile as well as severe and rough compositons receive good comments from journalists (The Wire). In 2008 Bednarczyk, appeared in some compilation albums like “The Wire Magazine’s Mp3 Specials”, “Shortcut to Polish Music” or album with remixes of Sawako sounds. His second full lenght album called “Painting Sky Together” which is going to be released in Room40 (2009).
Up to this time he performanced on Plateaux Festival (2008), B4 Festival New Music (2008), Fokus Festival (2007), Charge Festival (2007), Unsound (2006) and supported such artists like Daedelus (Ninja Tune), Alva Noto (Raster Noton), Triosk (Leaf), The Young Gods (Ipecac Rec.) or Thomas Koner (Mille Plateaux).

This is the recently committed (02/17/09!!!), totally OK'd for public consumption design for Fake Problem's upcoming LP, "It's Great To Be Alive".

I will sinfully mention that I am particularly proud of this one. I will also mention to this speckled room of spectators that I distinctly wanted to design something that frankenstein'd two of P. Saville's woefully fantastic covers for New Order : Power, Lies & Corruption and Technique. Unbeknowst to most scientists, scholars and this Steak Mtn., all you get when you try that out is a Depeche Mode record cover......but who cares. I like it, they like it and considering this potentially will be viewed alongside Flogging Molly coasters...er, I mean record covers.....magically turns this into the ****ing Mona Lisa.

"It's Great To Be Alive" will be seen as the walkabout of their career, so keep your eyes pegged on their Myspace page for touring updates, blog posts & comments made by perniciously teen'd youth who want to touch Derek Perry's undercarriage.
