◎简　　介　

影片的剧情有两条主线：一条是寡妇海伦与初恋情人阿尔方斯的重聚，另一条是贝尔纳与阿尔及利亚姑娘慕里耶之间的离奇关系。海伦尝试与阿尔方斯重温旧好，回到往昔的甜蜜时光，以驱走心中的孤寂。阿尔方斯亦试图与她重新开始，以逃避面临经济和感情危机的现有家庭，无奈岁月的冲刷使得两人难以拾起旧日的情意；而另一边，贝尔纳则日夜挂牵着在军队被折磨致死的姑娘慕里耶，一直搜集各种声像证据以求替她报仇。

影片的叙事风格是一个时间的重叠，将阿尔及利亚殖民之战与二次大战对比，导演雷奈在此勾绘了一个重复受苦的景象。

电影叙述一个女古董商的继子从阿尔及利亚战场归来，恰巧古董商的老情人也来看她。继子与老情人的战争记忆虽在不同的时代发生，却在现代交会。雷奈剪得破碎的片段，加上重叠的声音和影像，仿佛是反映各个角色内在时空不明、各自挥之不去的回忆。观众看到的只是角色的外在，得不到任何解释，画面表现的是他们在既定的时间内的日常遭遇，我们只能猜想他们的过去。

穆里爱事实上是一个被法国占领军行刑至死的阿尔及利亚女人，她从未在电影中现身，却是继子刻骨铭心的记忆和罪恶之源。　

幕后制作

本片力图通过平凡或是奇特的经历来说明记忆对于人们心灵的决定性影响——记忆将左右人们对生活的态度乃至一切。影片细腻动人，或许观众在观赏本片之时，内心亦自然地浮起自己的慕里耶。

本片和《广岛之恋》、《去年在马伦巴》构成“意识流”电影三部曲。
