◎简　　介　

故事讲述小孤儿皮普从小依靠姐姐与姐夫过活，却在无意中帮助了一位含冤被陷的逃犯。一次偶然的机会皮普认识了哈维森小姐，哈维森小姐终日穿着她的新娘礼服，因为多年前她在婚礼上被爱人抛弃，她的怨恨转成为对所有男性的报复，皮普对哈维森小姐的养女艾丝黛拉十分着迷，但艾丝黛拉对贫穷的他不屑一顾，这让皮普立志要成为上流社会的有钱人。后来那位皮普帮助过的逃犯在国外发了财，在暗中资助皮普，使他踏入上流社会，成为一名绅士……



幕后制作：
本片被誉为历来根据狄更斯小说改编而成的电影中最为出色的一部，跟里恩后来的史诗片相比更加紧凑。该片忠实而生动地呈现了当年的英国社会风貌，制作精致，导演、摄影和美工均有一流水准，演长大后皮普的演员稍微偏老了一点，但影片的总体水准非常之高。本片于1934年拍过好莱坞版，1981年有英国版电视剧，1989年再度拍电视剧，由安东尼·霍普金斯主演。1997年的美国版将故事搬到了现代的佛罗里达和纽约，伊森·霍克、格温妮丝·帕尔特洛、罗伯特·德尼罗主演。影片视觉风格强烈，但底气不足。
