故事发生在18世纪的埃及。14岁的艾卡莎是一位天真俏皮的埃及公主，因为皇家传统规定而与王子-图坦有了婚约，年轻的王子与公主虽然都极力反对，仍无法抵抗父母的命令。 某天，艾卡莎的父王也宣布他即将迎娶新王妃，这个消息让艾卡莎更加难以接受，于是她决定穿越沙漠，寻找住在遥远绿洲的母亲，而倒楣的图坦也莫名奇妙地被卷入这场出走计画。


　　事情总是没有想像中顺利，两人从一踏出宫门就闹不合，又因为行事作风大不相同而几近分裂。路途中又饿又渴还被尼罗河上的船夫欺负，后头甚至还有大祭司派出的追兵及诡计多端的佣兵团追着他们到处跑，一连串倒楣的事情，让艾卡莎的旅程困难重重，但随着困难的一一化解，两人却发现埋藏在这些困境背后的阴谋...

幕后制作：
　　影片结合历史与传奇，改编自法国著名小说家克里斯提昂·贾克（Christian Jacq）之同名小说，并由法国经典动画《国王与小鸟》，菲利普·雷格雷克（Philippe Leclerc）执导，其制作的系列动画《Les Animaux du Bois de Quatre Sous》曾获英国奖提名。2002年完成首部动画长片《雨国之子》（The Rain Children）。
