◎简　　介　

大学教授胡安与玛丽娅·何塞曾是一对恋人，战争将他们分开，玛丽娅嫁给了富商米拉尔。战后二人重逢，旧情复燃。一次幽会途中，玛丽娅驾车不慎撞伤了一个骑自行车的人，因为害怕私情暴露，他们弃伤者而去，致使骑车人死亡。自此，他们陷入了疑惧之中，时刻担心这一切将被发现。丈夫好友拉法的敲诈勒索使玛丽娅处于崩溃的边缘。胡安则更多地受到良心谴责，他因心绪不佳迁怒于女学生玛蒂尔德，导致了学生的集体抗议。他从中得到启示，决定与玛丽娅一同去警局自首。然而玛丽娅却很矛盾，她既爱着胡安，又无法放弃安逸的生活，犹豫再三，在骑车人丧生的小路上开车撞死了情人。但就在她匆忙赶去机场和丈夫一起离开的途中，一辆自行车使她连人带车翻入河中死去。
