Heavily influenced by RnB, Gospel and Motown, this band arranges and produces their own tracks, adding a distinctive 'Naturally 7' element to them. Full of classic tracks such as "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "More Than Words", and the self penned "Wall of Sound", the entire album is something completely different. Having worked together since 2002, these boys rehearse, practice and rehearse again constantly to recreate their favourite tracks in a way no one else has heard them before. The British doom metal band Paradise Lost formed in
Halifax, England in 1988; originally comprising vocalist
Nick Holmes, lead guitarist Gregor Mackintosh, rhythm
guitarist Aaron Aedy, bassist Steve Edmonson, and drummer
Matthew Archer, the group recorded a pair of demo tapes,
Drown in Darkness and Frozen Illusion, before signing with
Peaceville Records to issue their debut album Lost
Paradise in early 1990. The follow-up, 1991's Gothic, was
the band's breakthrough, its dark production and
orchestral elements setting them apart from the
competition; a major European tour also expanded Paradise
Lost's fanbase dramatically. Signing with the Music for
Nations label, they returned in 1992 with Shades of God,
considered by many to be their high-water mark; an EP, As
I Die, appeared later that same year, complete with cover
art by the incomparable Dave McKean. After 1993's Icon,
Archer left Paradise Lost, and was replaced by drummer Lee
Morris; Draconian Times followed in 1995, with One Second
released two years later.

Rawlins Cross was a Newfoundland Celtic rock band that formed in 1988. The band took its name from a famous intersection in St. John's, Newfoundland, since all of the original members of the band lived quite close to it. Never far from a notebook or hand-held recorder, Kickbacks' songwriter, Tad Overbaugh is not one to miss out on capturing a good line or melody when it comes. "I don't count on getting good ideas, so when I get one, I want to remember it", says Overbaugh laughing.

The Kickbacks debuted in 1998 with the release of Longitude, and soon after, the Blue Man's Collar EP (2000). The band received favorable reviews from critics for Blindside View (2002) and Motel Stars (2006) for, as one reviewer put it, "songs that ring with depth, authenticity, and plenty of hook-infused power”.

The new album, Even The Blues (2008), was produced by guitarist/multi-instrumentalist and "partner-in-crime" as Overbaugh puts it, Steve Scott. Even The Blues again features the Motel Stars (2006) lineup of Matt Arnold on bass and Perry James on drums.

"Even The Blues is about trying to enjoy the good moments as they pass, amidst the struggles that are always there. A lot of the album is about some form of escapism and using it to get back to a good place", says Overbaugh.

When I popped this CD in, I saw one 46 minute song! It’s tough stuff to pull off a single track album, and you need some cajones to do it. The flip side is that some bands already make albums that with a little bit of work, could easily be tied together as one song, in this case it’s ambient.
It begins with an echoing guitar in the background, sting by hanging on before screaming into feedback, then going into some slow chimes from tubular bells, then the buzzing comes in the bass, that begins to distort. Time passes, and instantly sorrowful strings jump on top to scream and whine, until their crying by themselves, before dying off into silence, with barely audible sounds from the abyss.
It’s a long depressing journey which of course takes it’s sweet time getting to the end to kill itself. Ambient is a difficult genre to deal with sometimes, the main problem being that there’s almost never any pickup to the action, which is the same downfall here, as well as the ten minutes of just about pure silence at the end. For those of you considering getting near this album, you’ll likely love it, though he rest of the world might be scratching their head.

Jordan Weiss is founder of Wizdom Productions LLC, a cutting edge music production and sound design company. Given his myriad of tastes it's hard to define his sound, however his influences are a little easier to nail down. Talents like Radiohead, Rick Rubin, Pete Rock, Bob James, DJ Premier, Georgio Morodor, and the Dust Brothers have helped contribute to his heavily textured and soulful style.

Jordan received his Masters in Music from NYU's Music Technology Program where he concentrated on film scoring, music production, and sound design. His work has been featured in various films, TV shows, and commercials.

Jordan recently completed his first full-length album titled "In the Pocket", a funk/soul compilation which he composed, produced, and mixed entirely.

Chris (Rizik) named Kevin Whalum's "Timetable" debut album his ‘favorite album of 2003,' and listening to the follow-up, One Life To Love, I can understand why!  The brother of saxman Kirk Whalum offers an eminently soulful collection of mostly original material (co-writing seven of the album's twelve cuts) that is truly inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable.  It doesn't hurt that the Nashville-based music man has amassed support from some stellar peeps like George Duke who produced four cuts, Rex Rideout who produced four cuts, musicians like John Stoddard, Paul Jackson Jr., Lenny Castro, singers like Kenya Hathaway, Mark Kibble, Fred White and Lynne Fiddmont (who duets with Kevin on the brilliant "Why?").
Picking key cuts was a tough task: track-for-track, Kevin offers a palatable, cohesive album that is a winner, start to finish.  I opted for the bluesy "I'll See You Around," the wonderful tribute to Frankie Beverly & co. and appropriately-titled "WonderMaze," the afore-mentioned "Why?" and a nice cover of the Motown chestnut, "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)."  Definitely a great album if you like your music smooth and definitely soulful!
