◆简　　介：
The programme starts with the computer simulation of a catastrophic impact of a meteorite of 10 km diameter over New York at the speed of 100.000 km/h. The destruction is total and the effects of such ravages spread through the whole planet… Going through the analysis of calamities happened in the prehistoric ages and the effects that they had on the living species, various possibilities that such events can occur again are taken into consideration and their consequences on the survival of our species.
In recent periods the Earth suffered catastrophic consequences caused by the fall of meteorites and comets of small dimensions. In 1908 a comet fell apart in Siberia, causing an explosion similar to 1.000 atomic bombs. In 1947 a rain of meteorites fell on Sikhote, always in Siberia, while in 1972 an asteroid skimmed over the United States. The second part of the programme examines the progress of technology to avoid “the end of the world”.
