The forecasters say it's going to be hot today - ah well, I suppose some people like it!

I don't do "hot". You really only have to look at me to see that. Red hair, pale skin and freckles by the million. If I get hot, I faint. It's so humiliating - I'm 5'10", considerably overweight and the sight of me slumping gracelessly to the deck is not a pretty one ;)

Yesterday was also hot but the youngest two and I had a good day. We'd do 15 minutes bursts of housework and then on our break we'd float in the pool which was beautifully cool.

Eldest daughter went for her trial in the pet shop. She really seemed to enjoy it and she would mostly be working with reptiles which are her passion (which is not the right word, because it's apparently not "cool" to wax enthusiastic about anything when you're 18!). I really hope she gets the job, they are to phone her today to let her know, so fingers crossed.

She thinks I nag her about getting a job because I want "housekeeping money" from her. The reason why I really want her to get a job is for her. It's not good for anyone to drift about with no motivation even to get out of bed. She's done nothing since she left school nearly three years ago now, she won't get up until it's afternoon, stays up late and hangs around with a crowd of like-minded drug using dropouts.

Hopefully, a job will mean a bit more self-discipline and a lot more self-esteem.

TIme to get ready for work, where there's no air con and the sun shines into the office all day. On a normally hot summers day the temperature reaches 30 degrees centigrade in my office. I don't want to even think what it will be today. Bring in maximum working temperatures laws I say.
