　本片获得2001柏林国际影展评审团银熊奖和最佳新人奖。 小贵是刚从内地到北京大城市的孩子。十六岁这天他终于找到一个快递工作，骑著公司指派的银色变速越野车，在市区中穿梭送件，每趟十块钱。 当赚到六百块元时，他就能拥有这台车。小贵因此每天力地工作。就在小贵终于快要赚足六百块钱的前一天，却发现自行车不见了。当小贵快绝望时，他眼看著自行车的新主人─小坚，骑著他的自行车。小坚是北京长大的都市小孩，正惬意地和同学们玩著单车特技。 小贵不顾一切地想向小坚讨回他赖以维生的爱车，在一番争夺之后，他们选择学习如何共同拥有..

　现代，北京。贵从农村来到北京打工，他找到了一份快递公司的职业，骑自行车送快递，每单收费10元。等他挣够了600块钱，他就可以买下他特别喜欢的那辆公司借给他的银色山地自行车。贵承受着客户经常的抱怨，努力地工作着。

　　就在他快要攒够钱的时候，他的自行车丢了。他跑遍了整个北京城寻找他的自行车，然后在街上，他看见一个学生骑着它。新的车主健说这辆车是在旧货市场上买的，而贵必须要回自行车，于是两人只好设法共用这辆自行车……

The deceptively simple modern-day fable, set in China's fastest growing   
city, tells the dramatic tale of two very different teenage boys; one a   
simple peasant lad (Guei), new to the big city; and the other an overly   
ambitious schoolboy (Jian).                                 
                                                   
The two boys' paths cross in an unexpected way when Guei suspects Juei     
of stealing his bicycle (which he desperately needs to do his job as a     
bicycle messenger).                                       
                                                   
Reminiscent of the Italian 1948 neo-realist classic, The Bicycle Thief,   
Beijing Bicycle has its own distinctive contemporary style, whilst making   
a strong political statement about the corrupting power of capitalism and
