该片披露了NHK从俄罗斯找到的，有关1949年伯力城军事法庭对日军“731部队”以及关东军等12名干部审判实况的原声磁带等内容，并结合从日本国内外收集到的数百份历史文书与资料，有力地证实了日本在侵华战争期间，“731部队”有计划地实施人类活体实验及细菌武器研究，蓄意发动对华大规模细菌战争等灭绝人性的深重罪恶。
