I am considering to buy a IDE RAID controller to be installed on my PC. I will use RAID 0 stripping to form a total 160GB storage

I am thinking there are two config. Since the raid card has two IDE channels and each can connect two HD in master and slave.

there are two configurations:-

1. buy four 40GB harddisk. Each channel will connect two 40GB HD as master and slave

2. but two 80GB harddisk and each connect as master on each IDE channel.

If cost is not a concern, which config is better in terms of read and write performance

如果价钱不是问题的化我建议你用scsi的！！
如果从你给的方案来看的话我会选2个80g的！！毕竟raid0的安全性 ……

用四个40G的做0+1也不错，速度有了，数据安全也有保证了，但这样做要损失一半的容量，还有一点需要保证的是过上三两年你觉得还能否找上相同的硬盘。
如果你只是想做RAID0的话那肯定是买两个80G的。但要注意不要用它存放重要数据，因为一旦其中一块出了问题那你的数据就再也找不回来了。

不建议用raid0，我有过惨痛教训，有钱的话还是用scsi raid
无论如何要有备份

IDE有必要riad吗,如果想的话还是用scsi吧,想想IDE接上四块硬盘......................如果想做raid我觉的必须用scsi硬盘,IDE硬盘根本就不行
