◎简　　介　

　　赫伯特·韦斯特医生从事着一项秘密的人体科学研究，谁知，他的实验对象趁其不备逃出了实验室，并且闯入居民区大开杀戒。法庭因此判他重罪，把他关进了监牢。漫长的13年过去了……为了找到能使死亡的有机体复活的化学物质，韦斯特别无选择，只得偷偷地在牢房里进行这项绝密工作：一只名叫“莱蒂"（Ratty）的大老鼠成了他唯一的实验对象。一位名叫霍华德的年轻医学博士来监狱工作，韦斯特成了他的助手。其实，霍华德就是那晚目睹怪物杀害他姐姐，并且看见警察将韦斯特押解上车的那个孩子。他，还把韦斯特遗失的化学试剂带来了。韦斯特将针管里的试剂注入了已死犯人的脊髓，于是，一系列意想不到的恐怖事件发生了……
